STMC's Oncology Department is dedicated to better understanding human cancers and finding more effective treatments. Dr. Henry Lopez-Roman, Medical Oncologist, works closely with patients and physicians to provide outpatient chemotherapy and infusion therapy in a comfortable clinic setting, close to home.
Patients who visit the STMC's Oncology Department have access to some of the most innovative and advanced therapies in the world because of our close relation to M.D. Anderson. New drugs and treatments developed at M.D. Anderson are quickly transferred to the clinical setting, offering patients improved therapeutic options.

Patients who have their diagnosis elsewhere can request that their therapy be administered at STMC's Oncology Department.
Though your personal physician need not call to make the appointment for you, you may want to obtain information regarding your medical care prior to making your call because our referral specialists will need some specific information regarding your medical history to complete the referral process. Additionally, our specialists will request that you forward certain medical information in advance of your visit. This may include x-rays, cat scan films/reports, and pathology slides/reports, surgical reports and a summary of your treatment to date.
Information Needed at the Time of Referral:

§ Your personal contact information (phone numbers, address, etc.)
§ Diagnosis
§ Details of diagnosis (physical exam, biopsy, x-rays, etc.)
§ Specific information about any treatment you may have already received
§ Names and phone numbers of all physicians that have provided care related to your diagnosis including your primary care provider
§ Your insurance information, including any necessary HMO authorization

STMC's Oncology Department is located at 1303 Hospital Drive, adjacent to STMC's main medical building in Wharton. Our office is between STMC's Administration office and GCMC's Physical Therapy Department.
