Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.):
In addition to M.D.s, there also are approximately 37,000 D.O.s
practicing medicine in most of the same medical specialties as
M.D.s. Like M.D.s, D.O.s must also pass a national or state medical
board examination to obtain a license to practice medicine. Osteopathic
physicians are provided with a scientific medical education that
includes education in therapeutic manipulation of the body.
